Essay I. Summary of Activities and New Contents

This week I continued developing new content for the site while monitoring website activity through Google Analytics. Two new posts were created to expand the site’s coverage of Seattle-related topics and improve engagement with visitors. The first post, “Exploring the Natural Beauty of Washington State,” highlights outdoor attractions such as Mount Rainier and Discovery Park while encouraging readers to explore Washington’s natural environment. The second post, “The Rise of Digital Technology in Seattle,” focuses on Seattle’s role as a major technology hub and discusses the influence of companies such as Amazon and Microsoft on the city’s economic growth and innovation ecosystem. Both posts include images, proper citations, categories, and tags to maintain consistency with the site’s content structure and improve discoverability for visitors.

Essay II. Summary / Analysis of Automated Insights

Automated insights in Google Analytics 4 use machine learning to detect patterns, trends, and unusual changes in website traffic data. During this assignment, I accessed automated insights through the Home dashboard and the Analytics Intelligence search bar within the GA4 interface. Although the website currently has limited traffic because it is still in the development stage, the automated insights feature allows site administrators to quickly identify patterns such as increases or decreases in user engagement, changes in page views, or spikes in traffic from particular sources. These insights help website owners understand how visitors interact with their content without needing to manually analyze large amounts of data. As the website continues to grow and attract more users, automated insights will become increasingly valuable for identifying trends and helping guide decisions about future content creation and site improvements.

If automated insights begin to show increased traffic to specific posts, such as Seattle travel or technology topics. I can prioritize creating more content in those areas to improve visitor engagement and retention.

Essay III. Summary / Analysis of Custom Insights

Custom insights allow organizations to create automated alerts based on specific conditions or performance metrics relevant to their goals. In this assignment, a custom insight was created within GA4 to monitor changes in website traffic and engagement metrics. The custom insight was configured to evaluate data periodically and notify the administrator when unusual changes occur in metrics such as page views or user activity. This feature helps website managers proactively monitor site performance without constantly reviewing analytics reports manually. For example, if traffic suddenly increases after publishing a new article, the custom insight can highlight this trend and help the team understand which content is performing well. Over time, these insights can support strategic decisions related to content strategy, user engagement, and website optimization.

Over time, monitoring these custom insights will allow me to identify which types of content generate the most engagement and adjust the website’s content strategy accordingly.
